This man was handling an injured red-tailed hawk at the Junior Museum and Zoo. He was obviously very fond of the bird and said he worked with her regularly. I thought it was kind of amazing the way they gazed at each other. The hawk looked at him the entire time and was pretty calm given people were stopping by to look and talk. The bird obviously trusted this man as she didn’t attempt to claw him or bite him or jump off his arm. This man said a red-tailed hawk could apply 400 pounds of pressure with her claws. So I guess the trust was mutual. I don’t know if I would hold a hawk on my arm.
